BECOMING ACCOUNTABLE
The thirst for knowledge Moderation means knowing something about alcohol and about oneself. It means seeking the pleasurable experience, not inebriation. We used to have laws and traditions, written and unwritten, to guide us. Now, each of us faces our values alone. Which is what makes an organization like Éduc’alcool so important.
Éduc’alcool teaches accountability A critical change occurred in Quebec the year of Expo 67. Before then, people drank in the closed environment of taverns, which promoted heavy drinking. But Expo exposed us to the world and helped change values and attitudes.
The average Quebecer is now considered a moderate drinker, whose behaviour is more in keeping with that found in European countries.
Across Quebec, we hear less about party drinkers and more about amateur enthusiasts who seek quality in their wine and beer.
In short, Quebecers are cultivating a true "thirst for knowledge."

Service in Action Training programs for the owners, managers and employees of licensed establishments are among the most effective methods for mitigating the social problems related to excessive drinking. Éduc’alcool, in conjunction with its partners, therefore designed a program to inform this group about their legal obligations, with practical information and advice on how to spot and deal with customers who are drinking too much.
