Éduc’alcool launches campaign to promote Service in Action online
The Service in Action program educates owners of licensed establishments in Quebec and their employees about their legal obligations. It also makes them more aware of the effects of alcohol on behaviour, and provides tips on how to prevent excessive drinking and deal with inebriated customers. Now that the program is online, Éduc’alcool and its partner, the Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec, have launched a campaign to promote the new website. Two print ads have been created and will appear in the restaurant and bar industry trade publications.

Éduc’alcool has also arranged with the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux to send a letter—co-signed by the presidents of both organizations—to all license-holders in Quebec, inviting them to take the training. “Service in Action explains your responsibilities and legal obligations with regard to serving alcoholic beverages. In addition to improving the atmosphere in your establishment, responsible beverage service helps ensure the safety of your customers, their companions, and third parties,” says the letter, which concludes as follows: “We hope you will take this opportunity to get some indispensable training that will help you fulfil your social obligations and improve customer service. Your customers will appreciate your effort.”

A total of 13,500 letters were sent out and Éduc’alcool sincerely hopes that this will give the project a boost.
