Fonds Éduc’alcool inc. (“Éduc’alcool” or “we”) is committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to all personal information collected, used, or communicated by Éduc’alcool or others as part of our services, or while browsing our website.

This policy does not apply to the processing of personal information of our employees. A separate policy exists for that purpose.

How do we use your personal information?

We collect personal information to administer our website, as well as offer our programs and services, our publications, a newsletter and surveys as well as communicate information to you. We obtain your personal information directly from you with your consent. How can you manage your cookie preferences?

Who do we share your personal information with?

We share your personal information with our service providers, or otherwise, as part of our services. We have contracts with our service providers that specify how they must treat your personal information. Here are the categories of third parties with whom we share your personal information:

  • Information technology service providers. In order to host our website and offer our services online, we use providers such as WP Engine, AWS, CloudFlare, Zoho and MailChimp.
  • Marketing partners. We use cookies in digital advertising. These cookies are operated by marketing service providers, including Facebook and YouTube.

If we are forced to do so, we may be required to share your personal information with authorities. This could occur following a court order compelling us to disclose personal information. If we can legally and reasonably notify you of this occurrence, we will do so.

At Éduc’alcool, access to your personal information is only granted to employees who need to have access to it. Our employees and subcontractors must sign a confidentiality agreement before having access to personal information.

Where is your personal information hosted?

Éduc’alcool strives to host your data in Canada, and when possible, in Quebec. However, with the globalization of trade and the increasing use of new technologies, particularly those linked to the development of cloud-based solutions, your data may be transferred or transmitted to recipients located outside of Canada, particularly in the United States.

Although we have contracts with these entities, foreign laws may provide different levels of protection for your personal information when it is hosted in another jurisdiction.

How do we protect your personal information?

We take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorized use, access, disclosure, modification, or destruction. The personal information we collect is stored in secure environments.

Éduc’alcool strives to adopt reasonable physical, administrative, and organizational measures to protect personal information, including:

  • Grant access to personal information as needed
  • Minimize granted computer privileges required for an employee’s role
  • Implementation of a confidentiality agreement with our employees
  • Training for employees regarding the protection of personal information
  • Hard copies of personal information are protected with the use of a lock
  • Use of technical and operational security measures, such as:
    • Implementation of a backup protocol,
    • Use of firewalls and antivirus
    • Strong password policy and use of secure software solutions for access management and sharing
    • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) to connect to cloud platforms
    • Use of the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol
    • Periodic review of privacy protection measures

How long do we keep your personal information?

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide you with our services and provide you with access to our programs, unless we are required to retain it for longer under applicable laws.

What are your rights when it comes to your personal information?

You have the right to access the personal information about you that we hold; and the right to request to modify it, if necessary. You can also request that we delete your personal information, except where we are required to retain it under applicable laws or instructions from our customers.

Depending on the circumstances, different rights may be granted to you with regard to your personal information, including the right to modify it, have access to it, or withdraw your consent. If you contact us, we may request additional personal information to validate your identity. If we cannot accept your request, we will inform you of the reason for refusal. If you disagree with our decision, you can contact our person responsible for the protection of personal information again, and we will study your request again. Otherwise, you can exercise your rights with the Commission d’access à l’information, or the responsible authority in your jurisdiction, if you live outside Quebec.
